Thanks Dennis. This is off topic, but in your research of Ft. Delaware did you see any information about the escape of Sam A. Willson? He was the captain of Co. F, 1st TX Infantry and he was captured at Gettysburg on the last day. I know that he disguised himself as a private so he would not be sent to Johnson's Island, where one of the lieutenants landed. Sam escaped sometime in the fall and arrived in Richmond on 25 De. 1863. Hugh Simmons and some other historians filled me on some details before and after the prison escape, but no one has found any writings about how it was pulled off or if there were others that left with him.
