Query to my fellow researchers...

Does anybody know of a diary from late 1863 through 1865 from any person in the Mississippi Piney Woods area?

I have a few; one is "Blood and Sacrifice" by William Pitt Chambers- he tells of being on parole from the 46th Mississippi and walking through Jones County, to Smith to Jasper in Sept. through Dec. 1863. He mentions deserters but as a nuisance and not a clear threat. One he thought shot his father's dog one night while he was at home but they never saw him. He examined the area where the Union raid was ambushed at Ellisville but does not mention "The Free State of Jones". He even walked through "Sullivan's Hallow" but again does not seem afraid. What I am seeing here is again a lack of contemporary evidence of this "Myth".
