Re: Another bad article from Kevin Levin

TM,

To say that Mr. Perry was not enlisted in the Confederate Army is not accurate. The fact of the matter is we just don't know. As with many white men all that exists of the some Black CSRs is just one cover sheet, no more.

Let me offer you an example I gave to Levin, since he could not prove anything about this person , he banned me from his website.

Jenny-- Negro Girl-- Received at the Myrtle Street Prison the 13th day of Feb. 1864 from Peter Coring, US officer. Sent forward from Prov. Mar. Genl on the first day of February 1864. By order of Col. Marsh.

Jenny "negro Girl"
Signed William Lonergan--Keeper

I challenged Levin to prove to me this girl was not a Confederate duly enlisted and armed.

I also posted this to him at the same time asking him for the same sort of proof.

28. Negro--- appears on a list of officers and men killed or wounded at Ft. Sumter, S. C. Oct 26 -Nov. 25, 1863.
List dated Charleston, Nov. 25, 1863
Remarks: Killed Nov. 24.

Levin's response to me was how ignorant I am to think Negros were Confederate officers. Now I will say this I do recall reading about a Negro who was a steamship captain held in a POW camp. Now I just cannot r4emember what camp it was so that reference is lost.
