I would say that most of the "Illinois Rebels" parents came from around that region. Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana and Southern Ohio were called the Butternut Region of those northern States because they were so heavily settled by southerners, or so I've heard. Have you done any research on the Home Guard units of our ancestral East Tenn. and Western NC lately my friend? I need to check more on the Tenn. Board but have been so busy.
