Soldier's Death Fall- hope not offensive

I recently watch a WWII Special that presented stories and testimony from elderly veterans. One vet started taking photos at a young age. Something he said about a body falling after being shot or etc. gave insight to something I had never heard. (I am a retired nurse).

He stated that the shot soldier falls slowly - not how movies depict.

I always assumed a body flies in the air or some other sad, scarey, and dramatic movement related to the bullet or etc.

I sure hope I am not offending anyone. It seems, this WWII vet was trying to say the fall is more peaceful unless in was injury and trauma without immediate death.

Has anyone heard this description? Thanks.
