Yankees will never accept that the War Between the States was not necessary and that Southerners were receptive to the idea of ending slavery peacefully through compensation as it was done in Europe. In modern times, even Southerners evidently do not want to believe the invasion was immoral and that Lincoln's intention was to centralize the federal government through subjugation. Likewise, it is hard for some folks to accept there would have been no war if slavery did not exist. We all need to study with open minds and make our own conclusions.....again and again.
