Nowadays, people seem bent on tearing down and casting in a bad light anything or anyone connected to the Confederacy. In fact, it seems like any American before World War 2 is fair game. That said, we need to remember to judge folks on living in the time and place that they were alive. Flogging was a legal punishment in England until about 1950. The last person flogged in the United States was in Delaware in 1952 {the year I was born}. It was legal in Delaware until 1972! Whites, blacks, yellows, protestants, catholics, jews ,whatever, have all been punished this way. Strange as it may seem in our day and age. God Bless, James.
