Making a difference

I had both the honor and pleasure of meeting Mr. Melvin Chandler in Los Angles, California a few days ago. Mr. Chandler portrays a member of the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry (Confederate) in re-enactments especially in California where he lives.

Mr. Chandler believes as many of us do in making American history correct as possible and after researching the subject matter Mr. Chandler elected to join the 2nd Kentucky. To say he stands out might be considered an under statement.

Some people in the crowds that visit the re-enactment skirmishes point that Mr. Chandler is on the wrong side or color blind because Mr. Chandler is wearing a Confederate uniform and fighting his heart out with the Confederate flag at his back. Mr. Chandler has drawn local media attention. Mr. Chandler is an ardent Confederate flag supporter and has a large one at his home.

Although a few of Mr. Chandler's family members no longer talk to him because of his support for the Confederate flag he continues to make a difference in helping educate folks about American history. I'm sure Mr. Melvin Chandler would be willing to share his photographs in Confederate uniforms and short clips should any of you want to see them.

Hopefully Mr. Chandler will be making an appearance on this board in the near future.
