Francis M. Grubbs and James M. Grubbs both are shown as Privates, who mustered into service April 20, 1861? at Westville into Capt. Geo. J. D. Funchess’ Company (Westville Guards), Miss. Vols.*

* This company was successively designated at Captain Funchess’ Company, Mississippi Volunteers, and as Captain Funchess’ Company, and Company B, 16th Regiment Mississippi Infantry. The 16th Regiment Mississippi Infantry was organized in June, 1861, of companies which had previously been in state Service.

There are no further records for James. Francis Grubbs’, (23), record consist of 30 cards serving in Capt. G. J. D. Funchess’ Co., 16th Regiment Mississippi Volunteers enlisting May 29, 1861
