In his book, "Black Confederates In The U.S. Civil War". Ricardo J. Rodriguez lists (appears most all) the members of the Guard.

One of their Captains was Jordan Noble, A Black man that won distinction at The Battle Of New Orleans. He's one that later switched sides.

He say's "The origin of the unit dates back to the War Of 1812 and and a Free Black Battalion that fought under Andrew Jackson at New Orleans".

He says "Once Federal forces took New Orleans, about 23% of the Officers and less than 10% of Enlisted Men switched sides and fought for the Union".

Bet you could find a lot of info here : https://civilwartalk.com/threads/black-men-in-the-confederate-army-what-the-newspapers-said-1861-1865.129911/
