Hello Missy, I have been off the blog for awhile...melting in Arizona. haha. I was so excited to read your reply and that we are cousins.
This is my ancestral path to my great grandfather x4 who invented a revolving, 5 and 6 chamber, rifle and pistol - LOUIS LATEIL (1798-1877) Me, (Irin) Smith, Goldie (Grandmother); Caledonia Callie Latil; Laurent Hector Latil; Louis A. Latil
As you know, the Latils were from a long line of armory experts. They were in the War of 1812 (1814 Lousiana), Several in the Civil War protecting Baton Rouge. (My Great Grandfather x3 Hector, his brothers Achille and Louis jr). Hector was wounded at Shiloh. Achille and Louis were captured at Port Hudson and released.
I will write more Sat (tomorrow).
I may have purchased that spiral book on Latils.. great data but I have found exciting, numerous documents and proof of our Latil Patriach in New Orleans, Alexandre.
I found a great article from Baton Rouge describing how Colt "stole" Louis's invention. They called him a Yankee. But the article is interesting. Til tomorrow! Great to meet you.
