Eating Crow

After conferring with two folks who are experts in the field of Naval History during the war, being Hannah of the Monitor Museum and Mr. Seymour with the Naval museum in Columbus, Georgia both of these folks came to the same conclusion. The Monitor mentioned in the fighting with Japan during the WBTS was only the name of the steamer and not a monitor otherwise known as a cheese box on a raft.

Mr. Seymour noted the following article in the New York Times in November 1864.

http://www.nytimes.com/1864/11/16/news/war-with-all-christian-powers-attack-american-steamer-monitor-particulars-fall.html?pagewanted=all

And Hannah mentioned the following mention of this incident on Wikipedia as well (look in the Campaign, Diplomatic Negotiations section) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shimonoseki_Campaign.

I'll have to talk to my sources at NARA again but I'm willing to bet they too will agree with Hannah and Mr. Seymour. So sorry for spreading false information, I guess eating crow is good for a researcher every now and then and from now on I'll try and to stick with lady I brought to the dance meaning Camp Chase.
