William West, 26, Private, Capt. John T. Perrin’s Company (Lincoln Hunters), 26th Regiment Virginia Infantry,* joined for duty and enrolled May 28, 1861 at E. H. Rowes Store by John T. Perrin for 12 months, re-enlisted for the war February 20,1862, recorded June 30, 1862 as absent, left in Gloster County May 3, sick at home, listed August 30 as same with the addition “without leave,” with no change through end of year, subsequently reported as having deserted January, 1863, joined from desertion February 12, 1863 and returned to duty, deserted May 26, 1863, no further records
