Probably one of the more better known Missing Camp Chase letters and saddest has eluded me for years up until a few weeks ago. With a common given name and surname it could have been any one from Alabama. But thanks to research done at the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery the missing Confederate has been located. And because of the pre war census reports we now know the wife's name of whom the letter was intended and never received. It would appear that the dead soldier at Camp Chase has about a dozen descendants or more with at least one living in Texas currently in doing some genealogy.
