J.W.Champion 14th South Carolina I checked both record files for the 14th SC vol. Infantry, and the 14th SC Militia Battalion Infantry, and he shows in neither. However, I checked the fine book on SC deaths, "Broken Fortunes", and a J.W.Champion, a private in Company K, 14th SCVI, is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery #11, Row R, Division C. No record of his cause or date of death. This information is found in the Oakwood Cemetery files, as well as it was mentioned in Professor River's "Roll of Honor".
