Tell Madison, Wisconsin that desecrating Confederate Cemetery is not alright
Recently, the city commissioners of Madison, Wisconsin voted unanimously to remove a Confederate POW memorial marker in the city cemetery. The marker, placed by the UDC, lists all the names of the Southern soldier POWs buried in the cemetery. They do not plan to replace the marker with the names of the POWs as one commissioner stated “there are many graves of slaves in the South with unmarked graves”. Nor do they plan to return the monument to the UDC.

It truly is a sad day in America as no other country in the world treats its past enemy's war dead with such contempt. History has proven that actions done on behalf of retaliation or revenge has not served its perpetrators well.

For 29 years I wore the Army uniform. I never expected to see this but I am not surprised. I entered the Army during Vietnam and Madison was a hotbed of anti-military actions. Plain and simple, the people there have no respect for any military. Four acts of Congress recognized Confederate soldiers as "American" soldiers, granting them the same honors and benefits. This was done to heal the wounds of war. Now Madison leftists see a chance to insult and disparage my ancestors again, undoing the good will President McKinley started.
