Trying to find out who the "notorious Captain Burleson" may have been. I've seen vague references to "Burelson's Rangers". Was this a Union partisan unit similar to the "Loudon County Rangers" in Virginia / West Virginia? Scott County borders on my home in East Tennessee. I'm wondering if he was a West Virginia Unionist, or perhaps a deserter from either side. He apparently was a bad man I'd appreciate any assistance.
