I had the opportunity to visit the Quartermaster Museum at Fort Lee, Virginia yesterday which is in the Petersburg area.

Among their prized displays is the saddle the General Grant rode on from Fort Donelson till the end of the war. I did not think it was overly elaborate and was in fairly good condition. They had a lot of documentation and a photograph of Grant's horse Jeff Davis wearing the saddle.

He may have had several mounts as I recall Cincinnati being one of them.
