Probably one of the knowledgeable people I've ever run across concerning the war works at the Washington Memorial Library in Macon, Georgia which has a fantastic genealogy room and research room on the War. Her given name is Muriel and she is black. For many years she has been working on the black Confederates on her own. The libraries phone number is listed on google. I've known her for years and I believe she is the head of the department. She is open and willing to share her knowledge from my experience and would advocate those interested on the subject of black Confederates to talk to her. Her opinions might surprise you.
