Bryan is an excellent researcher. One issue I'm having a little trouble with is the capture of Arkansas Post occurred on January 11, 1863 ten days post the emancipation proclamation. Most of the enlisted were taken to Camp Douglas, Illinois if my memory is correct and some junior officers were taken to Camp Chase, Ohio. To my knowledge Camp Chase did not have black POW's since April of 1862. However if Bryan said they were taken to prison they probably were.
BTW the name of the Confederate Major in the original post was Arthur Shaaff.
