Did my first reenactment in 14 years. Fell in as a guest with Missouri's Elliot's Scouts for the reenactment of the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas yesterday. At 60 I was holding with the younger ones, running up and down hills, filling in gaps in the line, protecting the flanks, and keeping up a brisk fire on the Feds. The weather was perfect and it felt great to be out there again.

I finally really understand what light infantry is all about, its hard work. Those regular infantry guys seem to have it easy staying in tight formations, marching at the half step to maneuver; not like us, we were running all over that battlefield.
