Re: How many here post at CivilWarTalk?

Guilty!! Yes, I post at CWT from time to time. Like all things on the internet regarding history, there are pros and cons. CWT has a large following which use it as a social network. Not being a social butterfly, this aspect has no appeal to me. The forums and threads offer a wide variety of topics, most of which I skip, but there are a few I enjoy. My favorites are (the few) threads relating to the Trans-Mississippi and threads where folks post contemporary pictures of battlefields and other CW sites. Often times the excellent photography are places some of us have not been or unable to visit.

Another part of CWT which does not appeal to me and I skip are the considerable number of threads by folks arguing back and forth. No one changes anyone's opinion, they simply like to argue I'm right and you're wrong.

On this site, if some one posts a question relating to an ancestor, battle, and/or unit, they will get all the facts available from Mr. Martin and others. At CWT, some of those who respond provide little and not always accurate information.

There is probably good reasons to use a screen name instead of a real name, but my name and screen name are the same.
