Just a thought; the 1st, 14th & 20th were all at Fort Donelson for the surrender. In several instances, there were some men from Donelson units who made their escape. Some of these showed up at Corinth where Bragg had them assigned temporarily to other units from their state.
After the Donelson prisoner exchange in September 62, some of those were then transferred back to their original regiments reorganizing around Jackson, MS.
