50 years after Civil War..slavery not dead....

In the summer of 1921 John S Williams and Clyde Manning were put on trial for peonage/slavery/murder
Williams was killed 1932 while serving a sentence as prision Trusty; Manning died of TB while serving sentence
1910-1911 three Negroes killed: Alec Dyer a laborer as he worked in field killed with a ax because he had runaway twice; Nick and Mamie Walker an aged couple who had been on Jasper plantation for 20 years both shot becuase they were too old to work
1918-1920 four negroes killed
April or July 31/Aug 1 1918 :Long John" Singleton killed trying to escape; Body deposed in a pond [recovered}
January 1, 1919 Willi Napier shot-died of injuries
Summer 1920 "Iron Jaw" killed body also deposed in pond
Fall 1920 Nathaniel Wade aka Blackstrap killed trying to run away

Willie Preston and Lindsey Peterson bodies found in river near Allen bridge Newton County Georgia March 15, 1921
Fletcher Smith -killed by shotgun and found buried on hillside on field
Will Givens killed and buried in pasture
Johnnie Green killed and buried in pasture
Johnnie Williams killed and buried in pasture
"Big John" Will Gaiter killed and buried at a vacant house
Johnny "Little Bit"Benson found in Alcovy river at Waters bridge
John "Red" Brown found in Alcovy river at Waters bridge
Charley Chisholm found in Alcovy river at Waters bridge
Harry "Foots" Price off bridge in Newton County
