This man Caleb Grover apparently had his photo taken of him wearing a Southern Cross Of Honor medal.
He was a servant of Colonel Olin Dantzler of the 22nd SC. Infantry.
Caleb accompanied him to the war and brought his body home after the Colonel was killed in Virginia on June 2, 1864.
I know that the UDC kept good records.
I'd love to see the record for him being awarded this.
Any help?
