My great uncle was a member of Capt J M Steadmans Co,
2nd Reg SC Vols. He was to report to Ridgeville and that
was suppose to be 28 miles travel according to his papers.
He lived about 1/2 way between Columbia and Augusta, Ga.
There's no towns by that name anywhere in that distants that I'm aware of. Anyone have any ideas as to where this
Ridgeville might have been. There is a Ridgeville, SC but that is near Charleston an not near here.
