Since Pleasant Green was a common name, I'd venture to guess that the soldier in the 16th South Carolina might have been this man's grandson.

Very, very few men born in 1805 volunteered for Confederate military service. The Confederate government certainly never required anyone who had lived that long to enroll. What specifics do you know about the soldier's military service?
