I need some help understanding Col. Rutherford's diary entry for the Battle of Strawberry Plains, July 27, 1864. Rutherford states that he reported a message to Co. D. Was there a Colonel D in Kershaw's Brigade at this time?

Here's the entry:

5 a.m. report the enemy moving in column to the left of our line. 5 1/2 a.m. reported this message ______ to Co. D. Gen. H came down in person. Ordered me to swing my left over.
