My great grandfather, William Pou Peden, is also a son of Mitchell Peden. I don't have a copy of the book of Pedens, but somehow my Aunt had copies of a few pages from the book. On one of those pages - and going just from memory - the book referenced Mitchell Peden's sons who fought for Southern Independence. Regarding Joseph Caldwell Peden - it stated something to the effect that he filled a hero's grave and was buried near Chester, South Carolina. I also am trying to find any information regarding the event(s) for which he was referred to as a hero and any other available information regarding Joseph and his brothers.
