My notes have Maj. Dean as captured in Byhalia, Mississippi
on May 4, 1865. Since this was in the very last stages of the conflict, I suspect that it was so much a "capture" as a surrender/parole. At present I can not locate my source for this, but I suppose every soldier came to the end of his service in some manner.
