James Alexander Owens enlisted in the Civil War first in Cobb Co, GA and was wounded at Malvern Hill and discharged 1861 and it listed him as being from Pickens District, SC. He told his wife that he went home to SC and when he was well he entered again in SC. He was captured in VA and was exchanged in 1865. He never went back to SC but settled in Al and met my ggrandmother Lougany Allred and they married there. He ended up in Pontotoc CO, MS near Ecru. He died there in 1899 and the rest of the family went to Fisher Co, TX in about 1906.
