Dear Bryce:
All three were killed at the engagement at Dandridge, Tenn., on 17 Jan 64, while Foster and Longstreet were seeking control of the foraging grounds along the upper Holston. Clark had just returned to duty after a lengthy wound furlough; he arrived in camp on the 15th and returned to duty of the 16th. He had married Ada Bacot while on furlough. The two Culclasures were father and son, serving in the litter corps of the Legion. They went to retireve the body fo Clarke, and were both shot down as well. I can't put my finger on it, but I believe that the same dismoutned cavalryman who killed Clarke also got the Culclasures. This was only a light engagement, but the Legion suffered pretty heavily here.
