Elizabeth -- William Andrew Spires and Michael A. Spires, brothers, both enlisted in H/20 S.C.. They transferred to Co G/Hampton Legion Mounted Infantry in 1864. Michael served to Appomattox, but Andrew was captured in Lexington Dist and eventaully ended up at Point Lookout. What is the connection with your ancestors? Michael is buried at Mt. Hermon Baptist Ceme near Pelion, while Andrew is buried at Gaston Baptist, Gaston, both in Lexington County. All of the Spires seem to have come from the King's Grove section between Pelion and Poole's Mill.
