Bill, Sorry to hear that the Yankees did such things to your family estate. Whether or not it was the results of shells fired from the Third Michigan Battery or not, I cannot verify. However, perhaps you can tell me if any cannon projectiles have been found on Rose Hill property? If so, I am interested in finding out what type of shells (or pieces of shells) have been recovered? Also, if I recall correctly, of the 28 cannon captured at Cheraw, only 3 or 4 were sent North as war trophies- the rest were disabled & pushed over the edge of the river bank. Have there ever been stories of these gun tubes being recovered , or are they still in the river? Sounds like Treasure hunting!
