My friend recently dug a pewter canteen spout near Franklin,Va.with the name of a c.s.soldier engraved on the spout.The inscription was obviously dome by hand in cursive script.It reads R.A.McCormick 6th reg.S.C.Vols. 3 June,186--last no. not legible.This soldier was a sgt. in the 6th.Anyone with info on him?
