The Palmetto Sharpshooter had companies from both York District(1, I think) and Spartanburg (several); the Holcombe Legion Infantry raised several companies from Spartanburg District, and the Holcombe Legion Cavalry Battalion (which later became a part of the 7th S.C. CAV) had at least one company from Union District. Parts of both the 5th and 6th S.C. came from York District. For what its worth, S.C. changed the names of its districts to counties in 1868.
