I have found that a John J. Welch served in this unit. he was in a hospital in Williamsburg VA (typhoid) and than transferred to a hospital in Petersburg. I believe he is the brother of Lewis Reese Welch 6th SC Co.B. I cannot find John on any rosters. They both came from Richland District SC. I have found that the 7th was made up of 5 companies. Company C commander was Captain William Sligh
