Here's some additional information on these men:

Private J. W. BURT, Co. A, 1st (Gregg's) SC Infantry, died of wounds at Wilderness, VA, on 5 May 1864.

Lieutenant Colonel Franklin GAILLARD, 2d SC Infantry, was killed in action at Wilderness, VA, on 5 May 1864. He was born in Pineville, SC, on 26 Apr 1829, graduated from SC College in 1849, and became a newspaper editor in Columbia and Winnsboro. GAILLARD went to California during the gold rush, and then returned to SC and married Catherine C. PORCHER in 1853. He joined Co. A, 2d SC Infantry, on 8 Apr 1861, and was elected second lieutenant. He was promoted to major on 14 May 1862, and lieutenant colonel on 3 Jun 1863. GAILLARD was previously wounded at Fredericksburg, VA, in Dec 1862.

Corporal James Jerman PALMER, Co. K (Spartan Rifles), SC Palmetto Sharpshooters, was a resident of Chester District, and was killed in action at 2d Manassas, VA, on 30 Aug 1862. He previously served in Co. I, 2d SC Infantry.
