His pay would have been based on his actual rank, not his brevet, or acting rank. A Confederate private received $11/mo, and a corporal $13/mo. (see http://www.civilwar.org/historyclassroom/hc_militarypay.htm)
As I recall, soldiers normally were mustered for pay every two months, but delays were not unusual in the Confederate Army, especially in the final year of the war. Soldiers received their pay directly, and it was up to them to make arrangements to send money home to their families. Any uncollected pay at the time of his death was eventually remitted to his widow or parents by the Confederate Treasury. Hope this helps.
