I understand that due to urban development, the Secessionville battlefield site is listed as among the msot endangered. Incidently, you are misinformed as to Secessionville being the "only battle in the South won by Southern troops." Perhaps you meant to write "South Carolina" but even so, there were many engagements in the State, larger in scope than Secessionville, in which the Federals were bested. In fact, with the exception of the virtually bloodless Federal capture of the forts guarding the entrance to Port Royal Sound in the fall of 1861, there was not a significant engagement in the State in which the Federals prevailed in direct combat until the arrival of Sherman's forces in January, 1865, and his march across the State was virtually unopposed, except by cavalry.
