There's never an easy answer to this kind of question. You must first start with names of men living in Laurens District who were not too young and not too old to have enlisted. Then try to match those to names in the service file index for South Carolina.

It looks as if four Goodmans and ten Millers fit that criteria. Several appear in the 3rd SC (Laurens) Battalion, Chancey M. and Wm. P. Miller, plus Beaufort Goodman. I also see B. (Barltett?) in Co. "D", 4th SC Reserves. In addition, John M. and Jas F. Miller enlisted in Co. "C", 14th SC Regt. I'm sure there are others that I cannot readily identify.
