berry riddle [ son of john and mary riddle ] berry riddle was married to eleanor wilson. eleanor is buried in friendship baptist church cemetery near gray court' s.c. berry was killed in peterburg in the battle of the crater. according to the encyclopedia britannica the battle lasted from june 1864 to april 2' 1865. berry riddle is buried in virginia' we think probably in the confederate cemetery adjoining bristol parish church. mr. oliver [ ol] thomason' who upon his return from the war was elected probate judge of laurens county' once told mr. marvin adolphus riddle that he was with berry riddle just a while before he was killed. berry riddle was adolphus grandfather. berry riddle and t.g. riddle and f. garrett were found in july 6' 1846 edition of laurensville herald list of laurens guards volunteers for the mexican war. landrum riddle was also in the civil war it has been told that landrum riddle was on his way home and that he died and was buried in weldon' n.c. we do not know if he was injured or just became ill and died. pharases found in some of landrum's letters to his wife ann.
