There is a Jas. A. Riddle who enrolled in Company E, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion January 2, 1862 at Camp Hampton/Columbia, Georgia. He was
promoted 3rd Corporal, 2nd Sergeant, and finally 2nd Lieutenant. Somewhere along the line he was captured and subsequently paroled in September 1862.
He ended the war being paroled along with General J. S. Johnston's army April 27, 1865.

There are some 36 cards in his service record file which you can obtain through the service noted at the top of this page.
