I had a great-great-uncle also in Company I of the 14th Regiment. His name was John M. C. Brown of Lowndesville, SC, but he is not listed on that website, or not by his correct name anyway. He is listed on the official records websites, though.

John M. C. Brown was in McCalla's Rifles, which formed at the Aiken Campground, according to his own father's diary entry from September of 1861.

He died in Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond on July 17, 1862, and from what I have been able to determine, was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond.

There is a photo of a Confederate War Veterans Reunion of surviving members of the 14th Regiment, Company I, taken in Lowndesville after the war. Have you seen it?

I would love to hear from anyone with any information on this Company during the time John M. C. Brown served with them (September, 1861 - July 17, 1862). Also anyone who happened to be going to Oakwood Cemetery who might be willing to supply a photo. I have the grave site location but I've never had a chance to go to Richmond.
