In Response To: Presley Loven ()

The Compiled Service Records (CSR) give his name as Presley Loving.

The SC Memory Rolls were compiled in the 1890s by the SC Confederate historian with the assistance of survivors. They are not as accurate as the CSRs. They list in Company E of the Holcombe Legion Infantry a Presley Loveing - Pvt - Spartanburg District - died of disease at Goldsboro

The Battle at Goldsbobo was the final battle of the Kinston - Whitehall - Goldsboro raid by US forces under Gen. Foster in December of 1862. See my book, Wandering to Glory, Confederate Veterans Remember Evans' Brigade (USC Press, 2002) for a complete account of this campaign.
