My great grandfather enlisted in the 17th S.C. Infantry, Company D.from Chester county, S.C. I would like to know the history of this unit, I cannot seem to locate the battles they were in. I have his Pension papers and they state he served for 2 and one-half years, but received a disabling wound and was released from duty. Thanks for any ionformation.
