PVT Henry C. GAULT, Co. H, 15th SC Infantry, age 16, enlisted at Mount Tabor, SC on 11 Sep 1861, and was mustered into Confederate service at Lightwood Knot Springs, near Columbia, SC on 16 Sep 1861. He was wounded (gunshot in right ankle) at Gettysburg, PA on 2 Jul 1863, and captured the following day. He was paroled at DeCamp General Hospital, Davids Island, NY on 22 Oct 1863, and returned to Richmond, VA, where he entered Jackson Hospital on 29 Oct 1863. He was furloughed to his home in SC on 7 Nov 1863. He subsequently returned to duty, but was readmitted to Jackson Hospital due to his old wound on 20 Jul 1864, and again furloughed to his home in SC on 12 Aug 1864.
