There is reported a Confederate Cemetery near by the train depot in Adams Run; our SCV Camp has been trying to locate it. This location is clearly noted on a 1920 era map of Charleston County. This is probably the location that the troops -- there were many, both officer and enlisted -- that died of disease in Adams Run were buried, though I don't doubt there being more than one location. I am suspecting that the graves are not marked, but we are indeed trying to locate them.
We have located the train depot and an area of encampment and are working towards a historical marker being placed there, since it is reported to be a major Confederate Military Hub. A gentleman that owns the surrounding land has reported to me that he has found many relics on his property, including a lock plate to a musket, so we know its the correct location. There is much being done in that area right now but so much more to be done. Myself and another member of my SCV Camp have been doing SCV work in the Adams Run area for several months now about every week, sometimes multiple days a week. We have documented many confederate veterans' graves in the surrounding area that are not properly marked as such.
I would enjoy hearing from any like-minded persons regarding these details.Anyone having further details (or mysteries) of Adams Run Confederate history and/or graves, please feel free to contact myself at brownpw@mac.com.
