More Adam's Run History

We spoke to a WW2 Vet Saturday that has lived all his life -- except for when he was in the service --on the corner where the Adams Run Station was and he gave a whole lot of neat stories about things he was told about the area's history growing up. Apparently, his grandfather was a very wealthy Plantation owner, whom was able to give each of his six children their own. I have found historical documentation that proves his claim that one of these was known as Battleground Plantation, which gets me wondering, of course.

I am looking to find some evidence and elaboration one thing he said. According to stories told to him growing up, Adams Run was supposedly named by way of the Confederates that were down by the river. They were supposedly around Wiltown Bluff, where there was a couple of gun mounts -- a fact that I believe we have verified. The story goes that the Confederate forces ran from the Yankees back up to the area that we call Adams Run. It could just be folklore, but it would be a neat inclusion in the historical marker, if there is any significance in it.

Has anyone ever heard anything -- or can there be anything found -- that either supports or disproves this claim?

Any info about the areas history is much welcomed,

Sola Deo Fide,

Paul Warren Brown
