BARR, James Michael (1829–1864): PVT, Co. I, 5th SC Cavalry, Lexington Dist. b. 10 Dec 1829, Lexington Dist., SC. Occupation: farmer. Enlisted at Pocotaligo, SC, 17 Jan 1863, age 34. WIA (gunshot in right leg below the knee) at Trevilian Station, VA, 12 Jun 1864. Right leg amputated above the knee, 7 Jul 1864. DOW in hospital at Charlottesville, VA, 29 Aug 1864. m. Rebecca Ann DOWLING, 21 Jun 1859; she was with him in VA when he died, and brought his remains back for burial in the Barr Family Cemetery, near Leesville, SC.
